SAMREF, an equally owned joint venture between Saudi Arabian Oil Company (Saudi Aramco) and Mobil Yanbu Refining Company Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Exxon Mobil Corporation, was established by Royal Decree in 1988. Saudi Arabian Oil Company (Saudi Aramco), the world’s largest oil-producing and exporting entity, took on the responsibilities of its predecessor, Aramco, with a history spanning over 70 years.
Positioned as one of the foremost refineries in the Middle East, SAMREF boasts a robust processing capacity exceeding 400,000 barrels per day of Arabian Light crude oil. This strategic positioning enables SAMREF to produce a diverse array of products, including Propane and numerous grades of Automotive Diesel Oil (ADO), along with two grades of Marine Heavy Fuel Oil (MHFO) and Sulfur.
