Key Responsibilities

Learning Support (Under SENCO Direction)

  • Work alongside the SENCO to provide 1:1, in-class support for children with SEN.

  • Assist the SENCO in providing support groups throughout the school year.

  • Follow and help implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs), support plans, and lessons for students with SEN.

  • Coordinate with the class teacher to differentiate work for the student.

  • Use supervision and care skills to support and ensure the wellbeing, behavior, and personal development of the student enhances their learning opportunities.

  • Keep the SENCO informed about the progress and needs of their students.

  • Support students with special learning needs at either end of the learning spectrum (learning disabilities and highly gifted).

  • Maintain an effective system of communication and liaison among classroom teachers, learning support teachers, one-to-one staff, and the SENCO.

  • Assist with the admission of children with SEN.

  • Support the implementation of differentiated instruction for students with special needs across the three academic divisions.

  • Act as a resource for classroom teachers seeking support for differentiating instruction for students with special needs.

  • Attend to other duties as assigned by the SENCO.

Health & Safety

  • Emphasize the importance of safety in all areas of the curriculum, communicating to the pupils the importance of a responsible attitude towards personal safety, the safety of others, and respect for Aspen Heights British School’s property and equipment.

  • Perform all playground duties on time and with due diligence to safeguard Aspen students.

  • Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.

  • Assist in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct.

  • Ensure that all necessary health and safety rules and procedures are being followed.

Required Qualifications

  • Education: Graduate degree required.

  • Experience: 2 years of experience as a teacher assistant.

  • Language: English is mandatory.
