Job Overview
The Senior Engineer – Drilling Services at ADNOC will play a pivotal role in managing drilling commitments, ensuring that all operations align with the latest industry practices and ADNOC’s established policies. This position operates independently on designated projects, determining the appropriate contracts model to optimize the value derived from exploration and appraisal wells. Success in this role is measured by the effective implementation of drilling services contracts that enhance operational efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
In this capacity, you will be responsible for identifying tendering needs, constructing business cases, and developing tender strategies. Your expertise will be crucial in assessing the competency of existing bidders and participating in the pre-qualification of new companies. You will also represent the technical aspects during tender committee meetings and ensure that all tender packages meet ADNOC standards and comply with the defined scope of work.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify and validate tendering needs, develop business cases, and secure necessary approvals for tender strategies.
- Assess and review the competency of existing bidders and participate in the pre-qualification of new companies.
- Prepare and participate in Tender Committee meetings, representing the technical aspects of submissions.
- Construct technical requirements, pricing structures, and specifications for contracts and tenders.
- Provide engineering support for tendering activities and conduct technical and commercial evaluations.
- Review tender packages to ensure clarity and compliance with ADNOC standards and scope of work.
- Capture variations during the contract lifecycle and manage delegation of authority effectively.
- Perform functional reviews of completed tender documents and follow up on mobilization and HSE compliance.
- Coordinate with internal teams to ensure contract effectiveness and apply lessons learned to future contracts.
- Prepare allocation based on approved shares and contractor performance evaluations.
- Ensure compliance with contract status reporting and manage contract validity and completion.
- Negotiate contract claims and variations in collaboration with the Procurement Division and Legal teams.
- Manage contract resources to ensure business continuity and meet operational requirements.
- Liaise with HSE, QA&QC teams, and end users to ensure that equipment and services meet required standards.
Qualifications & Requirements
- A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Science, preferably in Mechanical or Petroleum Engineering or a related discipline.
- At least 8 years of experience in drilling technology, equipment, and methods.
- Proven experience on well sites along with knowledge of financial, tendering, contracting, and cost engineering systems.
- Professional certifications in Contract Management are highly desirable.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills, capable of representing technical aspects effectively.
