This role is pivotal in ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations while conducting geological mapping and sampling in both open pit and underground mines. The successful candidate will engage in data collection and analysis, providing geological expertise to enhance mining practices and support operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure adherence to health and safety regulations, promoting a safe working environment through active participation in safety training.
• Conduct geological mapping and sampling activities within the open pit and underground mining operations.
• Assist in gathering and analyzing geological data, managing samplers and spotters on site, and preparing end-of-shift reports.
• Perform ore markups and supervise ROMPAD to ensure the execution of the bleeding plan.
• Support the Superintendent Geologist in grade control predictions and daily mine operation reporting.
• Collaborate with mine geologists to plan RC grade control drilling and manage daily RCGC site operations, ensuring sample quality.
• Conduct RCGC logging, liaise with laboratories for sample dispatch, and validate databases.
• Utilize geological software to analyze and interpret data, maintaining accurate records of geological findings and preparing comprehensive reports.
• Work closely with mining engineers and other professionals to optimize mining practices and ensure effective collaboration on site.
• Compile weekly geology reports into a consolidated monthly operations report.
• Map open pit and underground mine developments according to established standards, interpreting geological structures and borehole drill cores.
• Support model-mine-mill reconciliation and leverage results to enhance Resource Models.
• Monitor and evaluate the performance of direct reports, applying current industry best practices in geosciences.
• Oversee contractor payments, including preparation and tracking of purchase requests and orders in coordination with relevant departments.
• Review and manage the department budget, conducting monthly checks and preparing accrual reports.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Geology or Earth Sciences, with a focus on grade control procedures.
• 6-8 years of experience in mine geology, with proficiency in 3D geological software such as Leapfrog and Surpac.
• Strong computer literacy, including MS Office applications and related mining software.
• Demonstrated analytical and strategic thinking skills, with a problem-solving mindset.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, for effective technical report writing and data analysis.
• In-depth knowledge of mine safety regulations and industry best practices.
• Proficient in using Datamine, Surpac, Leapfrog, and relational databases.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment, fostering continuous improvement.
