Job Overview

KEO International Consultants is seeking an experienced Mechanical Inspector to join its team in Abu Dhabi, UAE. The successful candidate will be responsible for inspecting mechanical installations and ensuring that HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and other mechanical systems comply with approved designs, project specifications, UAE regulations, and required safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and respond to contractor Inspection Requests (IRs) in a timely manner.
  • Review mechanical shop drawings against contract drawings, specifications, local codes, statutory requirements, and international best practices.
  • Identify work that does not comply with approved drawings or specifications and report it to the relevant stakeholders.
  • Monitor construction quality and site safety, including health and environmental requirements.
  • Maintain accurate daily site activity records, including progress photographs.
  • Prepare surveillance reports and Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) when required.
  • Coordinate mechanical works with other disciplines to ensure effective multidisciplinary integration.
  • Provide technical support and recommendations to resolve mechanical issues arising during construction.
  • Inspect mechanical installations and verify compliance with project requirements.
  • Support testing, commissioning, authority inspections, snagging, and handover activities.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • 10 years of overall professional experience.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in the same role on building projects.
  • At least 5 years of experience in Abu Dhabi.
  • Abu Dhabi-based project experience is mandatory.
  • Current or previous experience on mall or retail-oriented projects is essential.
  • Demonstrated experience inspecting:
    • HVAC systems
    • Fire and life safety (FLS) systems
    • Gas systems
    • Water supply, plumbing, and drainage systems
    • Testing and commissioning (T&C)
    • Authority inspections
    • Snagging and handover
  • Strong knowledge of UAE codes, standards, and Abu Dhabi requirements.
  • Ability to interpret mechanical drawings and specifications.
  • Good understanding of construction sequencing.
  • Strong multidisciplinary coordination skills.
  • Experience in inspection, quality assurance, and quality control (QA/QC).
