1. About the Safety Engineer Role at ADNOC Drilling

The Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) department is the backbone of offshore operations. As an engineer in this sector, your primary purpose is to support the Rig Manager in executing safety protocols, ensuring asset integrity, and protecting the surrounding marine environment. This role bridges corporate safety strategies with everyday field execution, making it a highly respected position within the UAE energy sector.

2. Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities

Daily Safety Enforcement & Emergency Drills

  • Conduct safety orientation briefings for all arriving and departing rig personnel, ensuring total familiarity with muster stations and emergency evacuation procedures.

  • Develop, implement, and monitor offshore safety programs including hazard identification, pinch point audits, DROPS programs, and working at heights plans.

  • Lead routine safety training sessions and practical exercises, including fire drills, breathing apparatus drills, H2S response drills, and man-overboard scenarios.

Permit to Work (PTW) & Asset Integrity Management

  • Directly manage the daily implementation of the Permit to Work (PTW) system, ensuring necessary gas tests, plant isolation, and equipment shutdowns are carried out prior to high-risk tasks.

  • Perform standby duties on-site during high-risk operations and conduct independent root-cause investigations following any incidents or accidents.

  • Log Pro-active Integrity Reports (PAIRs) and manage Asset Integrity incident data within the SAP system.

  • Act as the custodian of all site safety records, including JSAs, BSAs, risk assessments, and life-saving appliance inspections.

Environmental Management Compliance

  • Investigate occurrences of environmental pollution and lead clean-up operations using available rig resources.

  • Administer on-site Environmental Management System (EMS) documentation and conduct site-specific environmental inductions for crew members.

  • Ensure full compliance with all local UAE regulations, alongside ADNOC and ADNOC Drilling Asset Integrity codes of practice.

3. Candidate Requirements & Qualifications

Education

  • B.Sc. Degree in Petroleum, Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical Engineering, or a closely related science discipline.

Experience & Skills

  • Full professional fluency in spoken and written English.

  • High proficiency in digital tools, including computer literacy and experience maintaining records in SAP systems or similar enterprise software.

  • Proficient in the operations of specialized marine radio and telecommunications equipment.
