Education: Technical diploma, certification, or related mechanical qualification
Experience: 6–8 years in marine engine maintenance, marine mechanical systems, or similar roles

Role – Marine Mechanic
Perform routine maintenance and repairs on marine engines, gearboxes, propellers, and associated mechanical systems
Troubleshoot mechanical faults and perform corrective actions to minimize downtime
Inspect and maintain engine components, pumps, and other machinery in line with manufacturer specifications
Coordinate with the engineering team for overhaul, rebuild, or major maintenance activities
Ensure all mechanical work complies with safety regulations and marine standards
Maintain detailed records of maintenance tasks, inspections, and repairs
Assist during dry-dock servicing or periodic vessel maintenance shutdowns
Ensure availability and proper use of tools, spare parts, and consumables
Required Skills & Qualifications
Technical diploma or certification in Mechanical Engineering, Marine Engineering, or related field
6–8 years of hands-on experience with marine mechanical systems
Strong mechanical troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
Familiarity with marine-specific equipment (engines, pumps, propulsion systems)
Good understanding of safety and marine maintenance standards
Ability to read technical drawings and equipment manuals
Good organizational and reporting skills
Willingness to work onboard vessels and potentially during maintenance periods
Salary & Market Insight
The average mechanic salary in Qatar is between QAR 1,760 – 3,000/month for someone with relevant experience.
Given the specialized marine nature and the required experience, a competitive salary for this role could be in the upper part of that range, around QAR 2,000–3,000/month, depending on responsibilities and benefits.
