Job Overview

Role – ASM – Departments

You’ll oversee performance of several retail departments, lead departmental sales growth, manage a team of sales supervisors and department staff, and ensure each department meets its sales, margin, and operational targets. You will also be involved in budgeting, stock planning, promotional execution, inventory oversight, and performance analysis.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop departmental sales plans & strategies aligned with regional targets.

  • Lead, coach, and manage department managers / supervisors to deliver performance in their respective areas.

  • Monitor sales, margins, stock levels, and departmental P&L; take corrective actions where needed.

  • Coordinate with merchandising, supply chain & inventory teams to ensure product availability, optimize inventory turnover.

  • Execute promotional campaigns, new product launches, seasonal offers across departments.

  • Analyze sales data, customer behavior, and market trends to inform decision-making.

  • Ensure customer satisfaction standards are maintained, staff trained in product knowledge and customer interaction.

  • Manage departmental budgeting, expense control, planning for manpower, visual merchandising etc.

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Proven track record (5-10 yrs) in retail sales / departmental management in FMCG or consumer electronics / appliances.

  • Strong leadership & team management skills.

  • Good analytical capabilities — comfortable with sales data, KPIs, reporting.

  • Excellent communication & negotiation skills.

  • Strong organizational skills; ability to multitask across departments.

  • Proficiency with MS Excel, sales dashboards, and transactions / inventory systems.

Salary & Market Insight

  • In Qatar, Assistant Manager / Area Sales Manager roles with department oversight often earn in the range of QAR 8,000 to QAR 12,000/month, depending on experience, department scope, and company size.

  • Compensation may include incentives / commissions, benefits like housing / transport, depending on the employer.
