Job Overview

Role – Senior Lifting Equipment Engineer

You will lead the lifting equipment engineering function: planning inspection schedules, ensuring certification renewal, supervising maintenance, liaising with technical & safety departments, analyzing equipment failures, enforcing safety standards, and ensuring that all lifting operations are safe, certified, and well documented.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, schedule, and execute inspection, testing & certification for lifting equipments (cranes, hoists, slings, chain / wire ropes, shackles, spreaders etc.).

  • Review lifting plans and ensure technical compliance with codes, regulations, and industry standards.

  • Maintain and interpret inspection / test records and issue renewal of certification.

  • Lead root cause analysis of lifting equipment failures; propose corrective & preventive actions.

  • Liaise with maintenance teams & vendors for servicing and repairs of lifting gear.

  • Ensure compliance with HSE, regulatory, client requirements for lifting asset safety & integrity.

  • Conduct risk assessments, provide technical guidance & oversight.

  • Mentor junior engineers / inspectors.

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a relevant engineering discipline.

  • Certifications may include Lifting Equipment Engineers Association (LEEA), TUV, or equivalent.

  • Strong experience (8-12+ years) in inspection, maintenance, or certification of lifting gear.

  • Ability to read technical standards / codes / specifications related to lifting equipment.

  • Excellent understanding of safety / HSE practices in lifting operations.

  • Strong communication skills, leadership, and ability to coordinate across teams.

Salary & Market Insight

  • Salaries for lifting equipment / inspector roles in Qatar are reported around QAR 11,000-13,500/month for inspectors with experience.

  • For senior roles with engineering + oversight + responsibility for certification, trucks/plants heavy lifting etc., a reasonable salary range would be QAR 18,000-30,000/month, depending on company, project scale, and certifications.
