About the Internal Audit Department

The Internal Audit Department plays a key role in strengthening institutional governance by:

• Evaluating internal control systems and risk management frameworks.
• Reviewing financial, administrative, and operational activities.
• Ensuring compliance with UAE federal laws, regulations, and government policies.
• Identifying risks and recommending corrective and preventive actions.
• Supporting informed decision-making through professional audit reports.
• Enhancing efficiency, accountability, and quality across the Ministry.

Key Responsibilities

• Participate in preparing and implementing internal audit plans based on risk assessments and organizational priorities.
• Conduct financial, operational, and compliance audits across different departments and processes.
• Evaluate the effectiveness of internal controls and risk management practices.
• Prepare detailed audit reports highlighting findings, risks, weaknesses, and improvement recommendations.
• Recommend solutions to improve operational efficiency and strengthen internal controls.
• Monitor and follow up on corrective actions and implementation of audit recommendations.
• Support audit activities conducted by the UAE Accountability Authority and external assurance providers.
• Promote fraud awareness initiatives and distribute relevant awareness communications.
• Maintain and update the Ministry’s fraud register according to approved procedures.
• Assist with preliminary reviews and initial investigations related to reported fraud cases.
• Ensure audit activities are conducted according to professional standards and ethical requirements.

Candidate Requirements

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in:
  • Accounting
  • Finance
  • Business Administration
  • or any related discipline

Professional Experience

• Minimum 2–3 years of practical experience in:
  • Internal audit
  • External audit
  • Accounting
  • Finance
  • Risk management

Preferred Qualifications

• Professional certifications in auditing, finance, risk management, or related fields are preferred.
• Knowledge of International Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing is an advantage.
