Job Overview
The Sales Manager at Nakilat plays a pivotal role in executing the marine business development strategy aligned with the company’s business plan and revenue forecasts. This position is responsible for identifying and cultivating new business lines while enhancing existing services. The Sales Manager will serve as a vital communication link between the market and the organization, focusing on growth opportunities that leverage the established brand through effective marketing strategies. Success in this role entails guiding a team of experts to ensure that corporate marketing aligns with business objectives, thereby positioning Nakilat’s products and services effectively within the market.
This role involves extensive market research, prospecting, and lead qualification to support the operations team in converting opportunities into sales. The Sales Manager will also be tasked with analyzing potential growth opportunities and monitoring their implementation to ensure alignment with strategic goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Regularly manage and communicate with the global agents’ network to enhance the yard’s market share in the region.
- Conduct proactive visits to both local and international clients, showcasing the yard’s capabilities and expertise to seize business opportunities.
- Provide strategic direction for the yard’s participation in global marine events and exhibitions to promote its capabilities.
- Prepare and disseminate marketing visit reports to management, ensuring follow-up on action points for accountability.
- Identify and explore potential business opportunities that can enhance market share through effective marketing tools and intelligence.
- Continuously monitor regional and global market trends and competition, presenting findings to management for strategic adjustments.
- Negotiate service agreements with clients that foster mutually beneficial and sustainable partnerships.
- Collaborate with specialist service providers and OEMs to facilitate their services within the yard, ensuring mutual benefits.
- Work closely with the Finance Department and Operations Sections to prepare annual Business Plans and KPIs, ensuring targets are met.
- Understand and address clients’ needs to ensure satisfaction and compliance with their requirements.
- Develop and periodically review the strategy, guidelines, and policies for the Estimation and Marketing department.
- Monitor the performance of the estimation team to ensure timely and successful bid submissions, following up with clients and global agents.
- Evaluate clients’ credibility to manage business risks and revenue streams effectively.
- Assess the utilization of estimation resources based on workload and staff skill levels.
- Analyze feedback from the Head of Estimation regarding unsuccessful bids to identify trends and areas for improvement.
- Prioritize the wellbeing of oneself and colleagues, adhering to health and safety protocols and participating in wellness programs.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management as necessary.
Qualifications & Requirements
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Business Management, Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering is required.
- A Master’s Degree is preferred.
- A Certificate of Competency (Marine Engineer Officer) Class 1 (Motor Ship) or its equivalent is necessary.
- At least 12 years of relevant working experience, with a minimum of 5 years in a managerial role.
- Strong behavioral competencies including drive for vision, interactive communication, customer centricity, and solution orientation.
- Technical competencies in business risk management, commercial management, business development, regulatory knowledge, and technical negotiation.
- Proficient in record keeping and document control.
