Job Overview

KEO International Consultants is hiring a Safety Officer to join its team on a prestigious government-sector project in Kuwait City, Kuwait. The role is focused on maintaining high safety standards across active construction sites and ensuring compliance with company policies, client requirements, and applicable safety regulations.

Key Responsibilities

As a Safety Officer, you will help maintain a safe working environment for employees, contractors, and other personnel involved in the project.

Key duties include:

  • Monitor and enforce workplace safety standards in accordance with KEO’s Health and Safety Management System and client requirements.
  • Inspect work areas regularly to identify potential safety hazards.
  • Ensure workers use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), including hard hats and protective footwear.
  • Monitor the safe operation of construction equipment and adherence to established safety procedures.
  • Conduct daily site safety inspections and recommend corrective actions where required.
  • Investigate accidents and emergencies, identify their causes, prepare reports, and recommend measures to prevent future incidents.
  • Develop and implement safety policies and procedures aimed at reducing accidents and related costs.
  • Work with managers and workers to improve safety policies and practices.
  • Provide safety training to KEO personnel in line with applicable OSHA requirements.
  • Promote a strong safety culture across the project and ensure compliance with construction-site safety requirements.

Requirements and Qualifications

Candidates should ideally meet the following requirements:

  • 10+ years of relevant work experience in safety, construction, or a related field.
  • Degree or diploma in Safety, Engineering, or a relevant discipline.
  • NEBOSH Certificate or equivalent qualification is highly desirable.
  • Additional construction safety certifications are an advantage, such as:
    • Working at Height
    • Confined Spaces
    • Fire Fighting
    • First Aid
  • Experience working on active construction sites and coordinating with contractors and third parties.
  • Strong knowledge of construction health and safety practices.
  • Multilingual candidates are highly regarded.

Preferred Project Experience

Experience with mixed-use developments is preferred, particularly projects involving a combination of:

  • Commercial buildings
  • Shopping malls
  • Infrastructure
  • Waterfront and public-realm developments
  • Marine or marina works

Candidates with experience across several of these project types will be particularly considered.
