About the Role

The Principal Assistant will be responsible for evaluating teacher performance, managing school property, analyzing student achievement data, and fostering communication between school administration, teachers, parents, and the local community in Japan.

Key Responsibilities

  • Establish educator performance elements and evaluate teacher work

  • Serve as the responsible officer for all government-owned or leased property assigned to the school

  • Gather and analyze student achievement data to inform decision-making and school improvement efforts

  • Initiate communications between school administration, students, teachers, parents, and the local community

Requirements

Basic Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Educational Administration or Educational Leadership

  • OR Master’s degree with 30 graduate semester hours, including 20 hours in Educational Administration

  • Minimum of 3 years of successful classroom teaching or professional educator experience at Pre-K to 12 level

License Requirement (Alternative)

A valid, unencumbered professional administrator license comparable to DoWEA Assistant Principal, issued by a U.S. State Board of Education or NBPTS, will fulfill the coursework requirement.

Security and Clearance

  • Tier 3 (T3) investigation with Childcare Checks required

  • Two-year supervisory probation period may be required

  • Mobility agreement – must be available for worldwide placement and willing to rotate to any DoWEA location

  • Transportation agreement may be required

Additional Requirements

  • Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete Selective Service registration

  • Proof of U.S. citizenship required

  • Direct deposit of pay required

  • Official passport required for overseas travel
