Job Overview
The HSEQ Inspector role at Nakilat is pivotal in ensuring that all safety, health, environment, and security (SHES) policies are effectively implemented at the shipbuilding facilities. This position involves conducting thorough inspections and providing oversight to guarantee that the construction supervision staff operates within a safe and compliant environment. The inspector will work closely with the HSEQ Lead and site management to uphold the highest standards of safety and quality in shipbuilding operations.
As part of your responsibilities, you will monitor the shipbuilder’s production facilities, identify potential SHES issues, and take necessary actions to rectify any non-compliance. Your expertise will ensure that the shipbuilder meets shareholder expectations and adheres to contractual obligations, specifications, and approved plans.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct regular inspections of shipbuilding facilities to ensure compliance with SHES policies.
- Identify and address potential safety, health, environment, and security issues proactively.
- Collaborate with the Safety Coordinator and Site Team Manager to report any SHES concerns.
- Ensure that all construction supervision staff adhere to safety protocols and practices.
- Review and verify that shipbuilder efforts align with contractual agreements and specifications.
- Maintain a thorough understanding of ship design and construction processes.
- Prepare detailed reports on inspection findings and compliance status.
- Adhere to all SHEQ policies and procedures to promote a safe working environment.
- Assist in the development and implementation of safety training programs.
- Support shipbuilding initiatives and projects as directed by the HSEQ Lead.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Diploma in Marine Engineering or an equivalent maritime/shipping qualification.
- Internationally recognized safety training is advantageous.
- A minimum of five years of direct experience in shipbuilding or three years as a safety inspector in marine projects.
- Comprehensive knowledge of ship design and construction practices.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Excellent interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with diverse teams.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel, for report preparation.
