Testing & Commissioning Engineer – MEP Career in UAE

Role – Testing & Commissioning Engineer (MEP)

You will manage the testing, adjustment, and handover phases of MEP systems. Responsibilities include preparing test plans, conducting inspections and acceptance tests, ensuring systems meet design & regulatory specs, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring a smooth completion and handover to clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement testing & commissioning plans for MEP systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire protection etc.).

  • Execute site acceptance tests (SAT), factory acceptance tests (FAT) where applicable, and integrated system tests.

  • Coordinate with contractors, consultants, and other engineers to ensure installations meet design & specification.

  • Measure system performance: airflow, pressure, temperature, water flow, electrical loads etc.; carry out balancing and adjustments.

  • Identify defects / non-conformances, recommend corrective actions, follow up to closure.

  • Prepare detailed test reports, commissioning documentation, and record performance data.

  • Ensure safety & quality standards are met; compliance with local codes and client/authority requirements.

  • Assist in handover to client including training, documentation, and ensuring systems are fully functional.

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or MEP Engineering or related field.

  • 2-6 years’ relevant experience in commissioning or testing roles in the UAE or similar markets.

  • Good understanding of MEP systems: HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, ventilation etc.

  • Familiarity with test equipment (manometers, anemometers, flow meters, pressure gauges etc.).

  • Strong reporting skills, attention to detail, analytical thinking.

  • Ability to read & interpret drawings, specifications, and commissioning standards.

  • Good communication skills, ability to work with cross-functional teams.

Average Salary

  • The average salary for a Testing & Commissioning Engineer (MEP) in UAE is around AED 4,500-7,000/month for mid-level experience.

  • More experienced individuals, or in large/complex projects, may earn up to AED 9,000-10,000+ depending on responsibilities and project scope.
