Job Responsibilities:

• Keeping truck and associated equipment clean and in good working order.
• Inspecting and maintaining vehicle supplies and equipment such as tires, lights, brakes, gas, oil, and water.
• Planning routes using maps or satellite tracking systems to determine the most efficient routes.
• Loading and unloading cargo from trucks or trailers using manual labor or specialized equipment; ensuring proper placement of cargo for safety purposes.
• Securing cargo for transport according to DOT regulations as well as company standards for safety and security.
• Maintaining records of miles driven, fuel usage, repairs, and other expenses related to trucking operations; completing required paperwork accurately and in a timely manner.
• Communicating with dispatchers, other drivers, customers, or law enforcement regarding delivery schedules or issues encountered on the job.
• Adhering to all applicable laws while driving on public roads; abiding by all traffic laws while driving in congested areas or hazardous conditions such as fog or snowstorms; following safety protocols when loading/unloading cargo from trucks or trailers; wearing seatbelts at all times while driving; conducting pre-trip inspections before each trip to ensure vehicle is safe to operate; monitoring weather conditions along route for potential hazards; responding appropriately to road emergencies such as flat tires or accidents; reporting any mechanical problems encountered during trips promptly to supervisors/managers for repair/maintenance work; utilizing defensive driving techniques at all times to avoid accidents/injuries; completing post-trip inspections after each trip to assess any additional maintenance needs for the vehicle; maintaining logs of inspection results as required by DOT regulations; informing management of any changes in delivery schedule due to inclement weather or other circumstances that may arise during trips.
