Key Responsibilities
- Prepare management reports, including monthly actual vs. budget analysis and sales forecast reports.
- Prepare and submit regulatory filings within required statutory deadlines.
- Prepare financial statements in accordance with IFRS standards, with focus on IFRS 17.
- Coordinate with internal and external auditors and provide required audit support.
- Supervise junior accountants, review their work, and ensure timely completion of accounting tasks.
- Perform month-end closing activities, including:
- Accruals
- Prepayments
- Depreciation
- Accounting adjustments
- Prepare and review journal entries for branches and agencies.
- Perform reconciliations for:
- Banks
- Clients
- Insurance companies
- Workshops
- Suppliers
- Interbranch and intercompany accounts
- Review supporting documents related to claims, payments, refunds, and supplier transactions.
- Prepare payment vouchers, cheques, and accounting records.
- Maintain and update fixed asset registers.
- Prepare monthly employee deduction vouchers.
- Manage bank and supplier confirmations periodically.
- Perform other accounting duties assigned by management.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Additional professional qualification (ACCA, CPA, or equivalent) is preferred.
- 3–6 years of accounting experience, preferably within the insurance industry.
- Strong knowledge of:
- IFRS financial reporting
- IFRS 17 Insurance Contracts
- Insurance accounting standards
- Regulatory reporting requirements
- Experience in financial statement preparation and audit coordination.
