Job Purpose

The Safety Officer will carry out safety inspections on equipment, tools, and working conditions to ensure the safety of workers engaged in oil and gas facilities. The role requires strong technical understanding of maintenance jobs related to safety, proactive problem-solving, and excellent communication skills.

Key Responsibilities

• Inspect equipment, tools, and working conditions to ensure worker safety at oil and gas facilities

• Inspect safety belts, ladders, ropes, rubber goods, and tools, replacing those that do not meet safety requirements

• Observe crews at work and report laxity in safety precautions such as failure to use goggles, rubber gloves, and other safety devices

• Examine conditions of ditches and tunnels and recommend the use of braces to prevent cave-ins endangering workers

• Investigate accidents to determine causes and devise preventive measures

• Instruct workers in the use of safety equipment and safe work methods when needed

• Ensure compliance with all safety procedures

• Encourage reporting of unsafe acts and conditions

• Comply with all SHE procedures prior to commencement and during work
