About the Role
As a Drilling & Workover Safety Engineer (HSE) at Aramco, you will serve as the frontline safety officer for upstream oil and gas operations — covering petroleum engineering, exploration, drilling and workover activities, unconventional resources, and seismic operations across onshore and offshore facilities in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement and manage the Saudi Aramco Safety Management System (SMS) across drilling and workover operations
- Inspect onshore and offshore drilling rigs, workover equipment, and support facilities
- Apply in-depth knowledge of well control equipment and procedures (Basic Well Control School attendance required)
- Identify, evaluate, and mitigate critical safety risks including work at height, LOTO/isolation, permit-to-work, H2S, confined space entry, and excavations
- Conduct PHAs, HAZOPs, JSAs, compliance reviews, incident investigations, and insurance surveys
- Develop and review corporate safety standards and procedures for upstream operations
- Review oil and gas field facility designs for compliance with company and industry HSE standards
- Develop and support Emergency Response Plans (ERPs) and attend emergency drills as observer
- Respond to emergency situations and incidents during and outside regular working hours
- Investigate all incidents, determine root causes, and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence
- Deliver Loss Prevention training to employees, contractors, and external parties
- Mentor junior HSE and loss prevention personnel
Requirements
- Degree: Bachelor’s in any Engineering discipline
- Experience: 7+ years in upstream oil and gas (HSE officer, drilling safety, loss prevention, or equivalent) covering drilling & workover operations, well planning, reservoir management, geology and geophysics, upstream facility project management, oil and gas field development, SIMOPS, and offshore/onshore rig safety inspections
- Technical Knowledge: Well control procedures, rig safety inspections, managerial audits, safety programme development, emergency response planning
- Skills: Excellent verbal and written English communication; ability to produce clear reports and present to management
Salary & Compensation
Estimated Salary Range: SAR 10,000 – SAR 22,000 per month
