In 1975 US Congress inaugurated an independent agency to promote the US and Japan relationship, this independent agency was named Japan United States Friendship Commission (JUSFC). According to the JUSFC.gov website as assistance to Japan-US Government formed a trust fund which was administered under JUSFC. JUSFC is offering Scholarships in the below main programs:

  • Social Science Fellowships Program:

The main goal of this program is to promote Japan Studies in the US. This program is a joint venture of the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) and JUSFC. The maximum scholarship amount is $60,000 with $5000 per month grants. According to NEH areas focused in this program are anthropology, economics, geography, history, international relations, linguistics, political science, psychology, and sociology.
