Job Responsibilities:

• Ensure that vehicle is in safe operating condition, including tires, brakes, windshield wipers and lights.
• Follow all applicable traffic laws and report any violations or unsafe conditions to the appropriate authorities.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of vehicle maintenance, trips and deliveries.
• Load and unload cargo as needed, using appropriate methods of securing the load to prevent shifting or damage during transit.
• Document delivery details including date, customer name, items delivered and payment information.
• Communicate with dispatchers and customers regarding pick-up or delivery locations and estimated times of arrival or departure.
• Inspect vehicles for mechanical items and safety issues; perform preventative maintenance such as checking fluids levels or changing oil as necessary.
• Map out routes in advance to determine best times for delivery or pick-up while avoiding traffic congestion or construction zones when possible.
• Make sure cargo is properly secured inside the vehicle before each trip to ensure its safe transport from one location to another.
• Keep an accurate log of working hours in accordance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations
