Role – Authorities Engineer

You will take responsibility for engaging with government and municipal authorities to obtain required approvals, ensuring that project designs, drawings, and documentation comply with regulations. You’ll coordinate submissions, follow up with authorities, and manage technical clarifications. Your role ensures that regulatory risks are minimized and that the project keeps moving forward without delays in permitting or inspection.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review documents, technical drawings, and submissions required for authorities’ permits and approvals.

  • Liaise with municipalities, government regulatory agencies, inspection bodies to obtain approvals, clarify requirements, and address comments.

  • Track and manage the approvals timeline; follow up on submissions and ensure compliance with any conditions.

  • Ensure that project designs & as-built documentation adhere to regulatory standards, codes & statutory requirements.

  • Coordinate between internal engineering / design teams and external regulatory authorities to align on compliance.

  • Keep updated on changes to local regulations, building codes, permitting rules; ensure team is aware.

  • Assist in responding to inspections and audits by authorities, prepare corrective action documentation if needed.

  • Maintain records of all approvals, correspondence, submissions, and status updates in regulatory tracking system.

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant Engineering discipline (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical or similar).

  • 3-6 years of experience in engineering with direct involvement in regulatory approvals and interactions with authorities.

  • Good understanding of local UAE regulatory / authority requirements: building permits, trade licenses, municipality codes, environmental, safety regulations as applicable.

  • Strong documentation skills: able to prepare clear drawings, submissions, respond to comments, revise documents.

  • Excellent stakeholder management & communication skills; ability to engage with authority bodies and interpret technical/regulatory feedback.

  • Attention to detail, ability to track multiple approvals and deadlines.

  • Fluent in English; knowledge of Arabic is a plus.
