Company Description

Etihad Etisalat (Mobily) is a Saudi company established in 2004  with major shareholders including Etisalat Emirates Group (27.99%) and the General Organization for Social Insurance (6.90%). Institutional and retail investors own the remaining shares. Mobily secured Saudi Arabia’s second GSM license in 2004, breaking a wireless industry monopoly. Commencing operations in May 2005 after a six-month preparatory phase, it swiftly amassed over one million subscribers in the first 90 days.

Renowned as the fastest-growing operator in the Middle East and North Africa by the GSM Association in 2006, Mobily dynamically evolved. It expanded services with the introduction of 3.5G in 2006, 4G in 2011, and 5G in 2019.

Strategic acquisitions shaped Etihad Etisalat (Mobily)’s growth. In 2008, it acquired Bayanat al-Oula, a data service provider, and secured a majority stake in Zajil, a leading Saudi internet service provider. These moves underscore Mobily’s proactive approach, positioning it as a formidable force in telecommunication and internet services.

Owning 66% of the Saudi National Fiber Network (SNFN). It is one of the world’s largest fiber-optic networks, emphasizes Mobily’s commitment to cutting-edge infrastructure. This fortifies communication, mobile, and broadband services, signifying a substantial leap in connectivity capabilities. SNFN’s robust backhauling capacity is integral to Mobily’s operational prowess.

This strategic infrastructure does not merely underscore technical sophistication but, more importantly, translates into tangible benefits for Mobily’s customer base. Customers experience comprehensive offerings, seamlessly integrating communication, mobile services, and high-speed broadband. In essence, Mobily’s strategic vision and infrastructural investments converge to establish a telecommunications powerhouse. It is also delivering both technological innovation and enhanced services to a diverse and growing clientele.
