Position Summary
Nakilat is seeking a qualified Maintenance Engineer – Building & MEP to join its Shipyard Maintenance team in Ras Laffan. This position is responsible for maintaining the reliability and performance of HVAC, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and building systems across the shipyard’s facilities.
The successful candidate will support maintenance planning, supervise technical teams and contractors, improve equipment performance, and ensure maintenance activities are carried out safely while meeting company quality and operational standards.
Main Responsibilities
As part of the maintenance team, your responsibilities will include:
- Maintain HVAC systems including chillers, AHUs, VRV units, ventilation systems, dehumidifiers, pumps, and split air-conditioning units.
- Inspect and maintain low-voltage electrical systems, lighting, elevators, dock levelers, access control systems, and other building infrastructure.
- Oversee maintenance of plumbing systems, booster pumps, circulation pumps, water heaters, and related utilities.
- Support preventive, corrective, and predictive maintenance programs for shipyard facilities.
- Develop maintenance schedules and prioritize work to maximize equipment reliability.
- Prepare Root Cause Analysis (RCA) reports and recommend long-term solutions to recurring equipment failures.
- Manage maintenance spare parts inventory and ensure equipment availability.
- Prepare scopes of work, tender documents, and technical specifications for maintenance contracts.
- Supervise contractors and ensure work is completed according to quality, safety, and contractual requirements.
- Lead maintenance technicians and provide technical guidance during daily operations.
- Prepare work permits, risk assessments, and ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Maintain maintenance records and update SAP maintenance systems.
- Monitor maintenance budgets and support cost optimization initiatives.
- Coordinate with internal departments, OEMs, and regulatory authorities regarding maintenance activities.
- Participate in continuous improvement projects to enhance maintenance efficiency and asset reliability.
Required Qualifications
Applicants should have:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, HVAC Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
Experience Needed
The ideal candidate should possess:
- Minimum 5 years of experience as a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer, HVAC Maintenance Engineer, or a similar maintenance engineering role.
- Experience working in shipyards, heavy industries, manufacturing plants, or large industrial facilities.
- Strong understanding of preventive maintenance, facility management, and asset reliability.
- Experience using SAP PM or other Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) is preferred.
