Key Responsibilities

  • Embrace and encourage the ethos and standards of excellence as defined in the GEMS Core Values

  • Assist and liaise with class teachers about the developmental needs of students

  • Run small group activities inside or outside the classroom as directed by the teacher

  • Prepare and tidy up classroom activities

  • Mount work displays and assist with preparation of displays

  • Photocopy documents and assist with preparation of worksheets as requested

  • Cover classes for short periods during emergencies, planned absences, and release time

  • Tidy and rearrange stock cupboards and distribute new stock

  • Take children to the toilet and change or clean them when necessary

  • Develop familiarity with relevant aspects of the curriculum including literacy, numeracy, and phonics

  • Ensure GEMS policies, procedures, and codes of conduct are followed at all times

  • Attend staff meetings and serve on committees as required

  • Maintain confidentiality and discretion at all times

  • Perform other duties as requested by line managers or supervisors


Required Skills

  • Good level of general education, especially in Math and English

  • Strong communication skills with excellent standard of written and spoken English

  • ICT skills are desirable

  • Ability to handle a range of tasks and work under pressure

  • Ability to relate well to children and colleagues

  • Strong multi-tasking and organizational skills

Qualifications and Experience

RequirementDetails
EducationHigh School Certificate, Bachelor’s in Education, or any other discipline
ExperienceMinimum 3 to 5 years in a Teaching Assistant role
PreferredIT certifications or additional qualifications
