Job Overview
This is a full-time senior-level engineering role based in Muscat, Oman. The Senior Planning Engineer will report to the Project Controls Director or Planning Manager, working closely with project teams to oversee planning, scheduling, and cost management across construction projects. The position requires 10–15 years of experience in project planning and control.
Role / Job Purpose
As Senior Planning Engineer, you will lead the development and maintenance of project schedules, resource plans, and forecasting models. Your responsibility will be to ensure that projects stay on track in terms of time, cost, and resource usage while mitigating risks and improving efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
Develop, maintain, and update project schedules using tools like Primavera P6 or MS Project
Prepare resource-loaded schedules and forecasts for labor, equipment, and materials
Monitor project progress against baseline plans, identify variances, and propose corrective actions
Conduct risk analysis related to schedule, cost, and resource constraints
Coordinate with project managers, site teams, and stakeholders to align planning and execution
Generate regular reports on schedule performance, resource utilization, and project milestones
Oversee change management processes, assess impacts, and incorporate approved changes into plans
Participate in budget planning, cost control, and earned value management (EVM) activities
Mentor and guide junior planning engineers and planners
Ensure compliance with internal procedures, project control standards, and quality requirements
Required Qualifications & Skills
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field
10–15 years of relevant experience in planning and project control within construction
Proficiency in scheduling and planning software (e.g., Primavera P6, MS Project)
Strong analytical skills, with experience in risk management and cost control
Excellent stakeholder management and communication abilities
Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities
Proven leadership experience, especially in mentoring and coordinating planning teams
