Job Overview
We are looking for a skilled Process Engineer to join our team in Oman. The successful candidate will provide process engineering inputs from FEED through detailed design for oil & gas, refinery and petrochemical facilities. This role involves process simulation, optimisation studies, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver technically robust designs.
Key Responsibilities
Perform pre‑FEED, FEED and detailed engineering process input for new and existing oil & gas, refinery and petrochemical projects.
Conduct screening studies, develop process schematics, and prepare process flow schemes with heat and mass balances and equipment sizing.
Use process simulation tools (e.g., HYSYS, Pipesim, Flarenet, Pipeline Studio, HTRI) to optimise designs and validate process configurations.
Review third‑party vendor process design work, participate in design reviews, HAZOPs and facility audits.
Identify bottlenecks in existing facilities, assess actual capacities and propose optimisation scope.
Ensure compliance with quality management systems and relevant standards throughout the process engineering phases.
Required Qualifications & Skills
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering or equivalent.
5 to 10 years of process engineering experience in oil & gas, refinery and petrochemical sectors, ideally including consultancy environment.
Proven experience in FEED and detailed design phases.
Proficiency in process simulation / optimisation tools (HYSYS, Pipesim, Flarenet, Pipeline Studio, HTRI).
Strong analytical, communication and problem‑solving skills; ability to work with multidisciplinary teams.
Willingness to be mobilised and work in Oman.
Preferred Skills
Experience in upstream oil & gas and downstream refinery/petrochemical project scopes.
Prior involvement in HAZOP studies, design reviews, vendor deliverables and facility audits.
Salary & Market Insight
Approx OMR 1,200 – 1,600/month (depending on experience, skills & allowances) — the average process engineer salary in Oman is around OMR 1,231/month.
