Role – Quantity Surveyor

In this role, you will be responsible for preparing Bills of Quantities (BOQs), estimating costs, negotiating with subcontractors, monitoring project costs, and administering contracts. You will collaborate with project teams to maintain financial discipline and ensure profitability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare detailed BOQs, take-offs, and cost estimates for tenders.

  • Analyze bid submissions from subcontractors and suppliers for cost-effectiveness.

  • Negotiate contract terms and variations with subcontractors.

  • Monitor project costs, track variations, and manage change orders.

  • Perform interim valuations, re-measurements, and final account reconciliations.

  • Work closely with project managers, engineers, and procurement to align cost and delivery.

  • Keep accurate records of costs, invoices, and payment certificates.

  • Generate regular cost and budget reports for senior management.

  • Ensure compliance with company commercial policies and industry best practices.

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or related discipline.

  • 5–10 years of QS / commercial experience in construction projects.

  • Strong understanding of cost estimation, BOQ preparation, and contract administration.

  • Excellent negotiation and analytical skills.

  • Good communication and stakeholder-management abilities.

  • Proficiency in MS Excel and QS software (e.g., CostX, PriMus or similar) is an advantage.

  • Ability to work under pressure, multi-task, and meet tight deadlines.

Salary & Market Insight

  • Based on Naukrigulf data, the average salary for a Quantity Surveyor in Oman is OMR 916/month, with a common range between OMR 300–1,582.

  • For 5–10 years of experience in project quantity surveying, the average monthly rate is approximately OMR 900–1,100, according to project-survey roles data.

  • A competitive salary for this role would therefore likely be in the range of OMR 800–1,200/month, depending on experience, project scale, and company benefits.
