Role – Cost Control Engineer

You will be deeply involved in calculating, monitoring, and controlling project costs from the outset to the final deliverables. Tasks include setting up cost breakdown structures, monitoring actual vs forecast costs, calculating cost variances, preparing monthly cost reports, feeding into budgeting and forecasting, and collaborating with procurement, engineering, site, and accounting departments. You’ll also handle claims, variations, and cost trend analyses.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain the Cost Breakdown Structure (CBS) aligned with contract specifics and Scope of Work.

  • Prepare initial budget and forecasts for cost and manhours; update forecasts monthly.

  • Monitor actual costs (materials, labor, equipment, subcontractors etc.), track cost variances, analyze reasons, and propose corrective actions.

  • Perform Earned Value Management (EVM) for cost and schedule (if applicable).

  • Handle cost estimates for variations, change orders, extra works and support claims / invoicing with proper documentation.

  • Prepare monthly cost reports and dashboards; feed into senior management meetings.

  • Liaise with procurement, site operations, accounting etc., to ensure accurate cost allocations.

  • Contribute to final project close-out reports, lessons learned, and provide data for future tendering.

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • 10-15 years’ experience in cost control / cost engineering on large EPC / construction projects.

  • Strong knowledge of cost control tools, forecasting, budgeting, variance analysis, and good understanding of project controls processes.

  • Experience with EVM or similar cost/schedule performance metrics.

  • Proficiency in financial software, Excel, cost reporting tools.

  • Excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, ability to forecast and foresee cost risks.

  • Good communication skills; able to coordinate with multidisciplinary teams.
