Role – Senior Exploration Geologist
You will lead the end-to-end exploration process. This includes planning and executing geological field surveys, interpreting data, designing drilling or sampling programs, managing geological modelling, evaluating mineral resources, preparing technical reports, and mentoring younger team members. Your expertise will support decision making for resource investment and development.
Key Responsibilities
Plan, supervise and execute geological field campaigns: mapping, sampling, drilling.
Interpret geological, geochemical, geophysical data; build 3D geological / resource models.
Assess mineralization, estimate resources and conduct feasibility studies.
Prepare technical reports, documentation, compliance with regulatory standards.
Mentor and train junior geologists and support staff.
Coordinate with other disciplines (geophysics, mining engineering, environmental) for integrated exploration.
Monitor project budgets, timelines, and reporting progress to senior leadership.
Ensure health, safety, and environmental standards are met in field operations.
Required Qualifications & Skills
Minimum 15 years’ experience in exploration geology or related roles.
Strong skills in resource estimation, geostatistics, geological modelling, and familiarity with software like Surpac, Leapfrog, or similar.
Field-based experience with mapping, sampling, drilling supervision.
Strong report writing skills; ability to prepare technical documentation for regulatory or investor review.
Leadership and mentoring skills.
Good understanding of Omani geological regulations and best practices.
Excellent analytical, communication, and organisational skills.
Average Salary Insight
The average salary for senior geologists in Oman is approximately OMR 3,000-3,500/month for high-responsibility roles.
Top performers with long experience & specialized skills may earn up to OMR 4,500-5,000/month depending on employer, project scale, allowances, and bonuses.
