Role – Senior Transport Modeler
As a Senior Transport Modeler, you will be responsible for the development, calibration, and use of transport / traffic models to support major planning projects, transport policy work, and infrastructure development in Dubai. You’ll collaborate with planners, engineers, and authorities, conduct simulations, provide technical input, and guide junior modelling staff.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and calibrate travel demand models, strategic transport models, and traffic simulation models (using tools like VISUM, VISSIM, Cube/Voyager, or similar).
Perform transport impact assessments, traffic impact studies (TIS), forecast future traffic conditions, and assess mitigation strategies.
Conduct operational analyses for intersections, corridors; use microsimulation software to understand and refine traffic flow performance.
Collect, analyze, and process transport / traffic data (counts, surveys, sensors); ensure data integrity and accurate inputs into models.
Prepare technical reports and presentations; communicate modelling results to stakeholders in a clear and actionable manner.
Mentor or guide junior modelers / assistants; help them develop modelling workflows, review their outputs.
Stay current with local regulations, guidelines of RTA Dubai, relevant transport / planning policy and modelling techniques.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Civil / Transportation Engineering, Urban Planning, or equivalent; Master’s degree advantageous.
3-7 years’ proven experience in transport modelling, traffic engineering, or transport planning (preferably in UAE or the Middle East).
Strong proficiency in modelling and simulation software such as PTV VISUM, VISSIM, Cube Voyager, EMME, AIMSUN, or similar.
Solid experience with transport forecasting, model calibration, scenario testing, traffic operations analysis.
Excellent analytical, report writing, and communication skills.
Familiarity with Dubai traffic / planning regulations, RTA policies, or related frameworks.
Ability to work across disciplines, engage with public/private sector stakeholders.
